Customer Reviews
Novice POV The book is well written and to the point. Easy to understand, but may not be enough information for a beginner to run to the races with.
Tax Liens Demistified A good book that demistifies any confusion about tax sales throughout the country. Easy to read and easy to follow. Breaks down all the information into an organization fashion. Unfortunately, the author's website isn't working.
a timesaver, a comparison to TV's John Beck tax lien program This is a very very quick read and a definite time saver for people on the go. I think if you are new to this and didn't know how tax liens work, you will really find this book to be helpful as it guides you step by step. It is very specific on what you should do and what forms to fill out. I have looked at other tax lien resources mainly John Beck's expensive tax lien program on TV. I found this book to be cheaper and more direct to the point, while the latter having little or no resources unless you want to pay more for coaching and stuff. Also I was surprised to find the free online community with this book. It makes the learning process a little easier when you have questions and you can ask people including the author directly.

Second Best Book The YES!Attitude may be the second best book I have read. I am sure there is one better but I haven't found it yet. I have read it four times and am reading it for the fifth time not because I am slow learner but rather because the lessons are worth learning. I have read most of the reviews of the book on this site and all I can say to those who gave it a poor rating that sometimes people read the words but fail to grasp the meaning. As I read this I could only imagine what a wonderful world this would be if everyone adopted the ideas and concepts of this book. Contrary to some of the reivews I found an Aha on almost every page. Every time something happens that I don't like I now think of the book and more specifically, "I don't like what's happening but I know I am going to learn something really great" or words to that effect. I have taken it a step further. I wear a necklace beneath my shirt that I use to remind myself everytime I see or feel it that being positive is a choice and I choose to be positive. I am purchasing 20 copies to give to my 4 children and my best friends.
Great Foundation For Self-Improvement Books This is a fantastic book that communicates. If you are now searching for more than your inspirational quotes book or your motivational pictures and posters, I recommend this book. This book points you in the right direction in your journey for self-improvement. Simple and straight shooting instead of some books, just as informative, but may have overwhelming story telling. It sets up a great foundation for a better mindset and attitude. For the well-versed in the self-help arena, the Little Gold Book of YES! Attitude, solidifies, simplies and certifies the major principles of a positive attitude. Overall, after reading the book, you'll see how to improve a positive attitude with a YES! attitude.
Excellent Read I purchased this book after buing Mr. Gitomer's Little Platinum Book of Cha-Ching, which has made a difference in my life. This book, as has been indicated before, is nothing particuarly new (but, as has also been indicated before, little self-improvement or achievement literature is truly new, just restated). I would argue that it is not simplistic, but instead subtle - I have reread it two times after my initial read, and only in the repeated readings are some of the subtlties coming out. Certainly if you are looking for a great introductory book to achievement and self improvement, you'd be hard pressed to beat this one. It's positive, upbeat, and has great packaging.

Great book for undergrads This is a great book for undergrad students taking any type of business law class.
Business Law 10 Edition I like it a lot but it needs to put into simple word for a person like me who don't known any thing about law could understand it better. over all its a very good book. A lot of good information. Lollie L. Jefferson
West's Business Law, tenth edition The book came in a sealed cover. Although it looks brand new, it does say it is "used". You would never know it. It came in a timely manner and when I followed up w/the seller to see when it shipped, they sent me back an e-mail within a few hours. I would highly recommend using Off Campus Athens again.

McConnell and Brue’s Economics: Principles, Problems, and Policies is the leading Principles of Economics textbook because it is innovative and teaches students in a clear, unbiased way. The 17th Edition builds upon the tradition of leadership with three main goals: help the beginning student master the principles essential for understanding the economizing problem, specific economic issues, and the policy alternatives; help the student understand and apply the economic perspective and reason accurately and objectively about economic matters; and promote a lasting student interest in economics and the economy.

Great! Recieved the book as promised in the appropriate condition and was also shipped quickly too so I had it in time for my first class. VERY important! Thanks!
misssing book never received book; and never received feedback on several attempts. I will not conduct transactions with dagamemania44 in the future
Economics 17th edition I used this text in an Econ class last semester (my first in a few years) and this book was great. The summaries were helpful, there are several in each chapter instead of one at the end, that's very handy when you're looking for specific information. There are lots of charts to help with the formulas. My favorite areas included the chapters on Antitrust Policy and Regulation, Agriculture, Income Inequality, and the Costs of Production. Economics can be pretty dry subject matter, luckily I also had a lively instructor. Obviously as a student you don't get much say in which text you use, but this is a good one.

Customer Reviews
Highway robbery This book and the service surrounding it is absolute garbage. The positive reviews it has received are highly dubious. The book is very unclear with terminology, and the lack of answer keys to check your progress makes this worse. If you're buying this used be prepared to wade through red tape to get access to an answer key. 70 bucks for a single semester of access, and you won't have access as soon as you pay, you will also need a url from your instructor to access the site. I understand why this is needed for your class specific information but to simply access the sites tools, like an answer sheet, should not require anything more than your subscription...actually it should have come with the book. I have taken two other classes with website support material and I did not have to go through near the trouble. I am likely to take my complaint to my colleges administration as this book would only be tolerable to someone strong in this field, which defeats its purpose.
Excellent Book This is an excellent book. Each chapter starts with a real life example of the learning objectives that will be covered in the chapter. The concepts are explained in terms that are easy to understand and grasp. There are a variety of problems at the end of each chapter to reinforce the learning objectives. I would recommend this book to anybody who has little knowledge of accounting or someone who needs a refresher in the accounting principles.
No Code Included With Purchse Of "New" Text From Amazon Potential Buyers, If you are a student who is taking an accounting course and your instructor requires you to use the accompanying Wiley Plus website, do not expect to get a Wiley Plus, registration code with this product. I purchased the text "new" directly from Amazon for an accounting class I am taking and I assumed that I would recieve the registration code I needed; I assumed wrong as there was no registration code included with my book. If you do need the code for class and you do choose to buy this book from Amazon, you'll be best off buying the cheapest, used edition and going to the Wiley Plus site directly to get a standard registration code for around $60 dollars. Of Course keep in mind shipping costs may eat up any savings you'd get buying from Amazon in the first place! The 1 star review actually reflects my dissatisfaction with the description of this product on Amazon's site, and not the quality of the text. Happy Shopping!

Marketing Management (12th Edition) (Marketing Management)

Customer Reviews
Tons of theoretical information Although this is the primary used textbook for MBA students in marketing classes, it lacks one major substance- practical implications. Kotler and Keller are absolutely awesome in introducing almost all theories applied to marketing (except they lack to focus on international marketing), but this text is not "applied" marketing. Therefore my only problem with this about 700-page textbook is it's missing crucial steps required to achieve mentioned goals.
Good Nice but the main weakness stands on the delivery on time especially for outside Europe
Excellent Price I purchased this text book because of price; the university's custom book was over $150. I am so glad that I was able to locate this book. Thank you so much. The book was delivered in a timely manner.

Another Good Book To Understand The Law of Attraction I've read alot of books on The Secret (AKA The Law of Attraction) and each one seems to add a little more to my knowledge base. Joe has some valuable information in this book worth reading. Again most of it is theoretical. For me, at this point, I'd have to say the book I use daily is Living The Secret Everyday: My Secret Workbook, the most practical and useable resource that keeps me on track and focused on a joyful and abundant life. Check them both out.
inspirational Very inspirational book, I want this to work for me! Easy reading, definately explains more about the secret. Opens up self awareness.
Continuation of The Secret I agree with so many of the other reviewers that this is the next step up from The Secret. It delves more into the ideas and gives you numerous exercises to work on. Another book which gives you numerous exercises(recipes) and a great background on the Law of Attraction (The Secret) is [ASIN:1419674609 Living The Secret Everyday: My Secret Workbook]]. I especially enjoyed this for its easy reading written by a school teacher of 30 years. The way she writes is inspiring and I really feel I am being taught and I thoroughly understand the principles.

Winning

WinningBy Jack Welch, Suzy Welch

$18.45

Product Description
Jack Welch knows how to win. During his forty-year career at General Electric, he led the company to year-after-year success around the globe, in multiple markets, against brutal competition. His honest, be-the-best style of management became the gold standard in business, with his relentless focus on people, teamwork, and profits.
Since Welch retired in 2001 as chairman and chief executive officer of GE, he has traveled the world, speaking to more than 250,000 people and answering their questions on dozens of wide-ranging topics.
Inspired by his audiences and their hunger for straightforward guidance, Welch has written both a philosophical and pragmatic book, which is destined to become the bible of business for generations to come. It clearly lays out the answers to the most difficult questions people face both on and off the job.
Welch's objective is to speak to people at every level of an organization, in companies large and small. His audience is everyone from line workers to MBAs, from project managers to senior executives. His goal is to help everyone who has a passion for success.
Welch begins Winning with an introductory section called "Underneath It All," which describes his business philosophy. He explores the importance of values, candor, differentiation, and voice and dignity for all.
The core of Winning is devoted to the real "stuff" of work. This main part of the book is split into three sections. The first looks inside the company, from leadership to picking winners to making change happen. The second section looks outside, at the competition, with chapters on strategy, mergers, and Six Sigma, to name just three. The next section of the book is about managing your career—from finding the right job to achieving work-life balance.
Welch's optimistic, no excuses, get-it-done mind-set is riveting. Packed with personal anecdotes and written in Jack's distinctive no b.s. voice, Winning offers deep insights, original thinking, and solutions to nuts-and-bolts problems that will change the way people think about work.

Customer Reviews
High on the "Stories from Utopia" bookshelf This is a pleasant to read book that unfortunately has (almost) nothing to do with corporate reality. A better title for it would have been "Winning in Utopia". Admittedly, I don't have 40 years experience but I changed tack a couple of times yet never found a corporation where Jack's word come even close to describing how it works. Reasoning in "game theory" terms makes me think the vast majority of companies are very, very unlike what Jack describes. Jack himself inadvertently gives this away when recounting the story of the Q&A session with about 5000 HR professionals. In Utopia, the Chief HR sits right next the CEO, but when asked about their companies, only a few out of 5000 Real World Chief HR officers rise their hands acknowledging to having such a privileged position. I am most willing to admit that GE is an exception (that's probably part of why it's one of the most valuable companies in the world). In the Real World, "candor" gets you stabbed and killed. Because most aspiring leaders know that, nobody takes the risk. Perfoming solidly might earn you "chits" but you can easily squander a year of solid performance by candidly speaking out one truth that proves inconvenient to your boss. On the other hand, sucking up to your boss consistently earns you large amounts of chits with less risk. Bosses are human too, they can't help but be pleased when flattered. In big organizations from the real world, middle managers feel like small cogs, the interests of their immediate boss are much closer to them than those of the distant and fuzzy concept of "Acme, Corp.", the company they are working for and which pays their salaries. Moreover, bosses have bosses too, so promoting "energetic, energizing, edge, execute, passionate" people would involve needless risks. Much better to promote their chums, guys that "get it", made in their image, loyal as they themselves are loyal to their own bosses. When you think of it, this is a proven system, it was called "feudalism" and thrived for several centuries. In our modern world it's the system that makes the various mobs (Cosa Nostra, Camorra, N'drangheta, etc.) compete so successfully. Admittedly, it doesn't work so well when there's fierce competition, but then you can still call on the politicians to protect your industry, which is what happens most of the time ... So, read this book but for your own sake, make sure you are working for an Utopian company before trying to apply any of Jack's recommendations, or else you're a dead man and you won't be able to sue Jack for it ...
Clarifying Business This book can be largely digested by most people out there. You don't need an MBA to pick up on the points that Jack makes. His abrupt, simple-but-thoughtful and clear advice is refreshing and relevant. Very thought provoking and motivating.
Exceptional Business Advice This is exceptional business advice from a legendary executive. The content is straight forward and sensible, yet profound. Welch takes what can be hard-to-grasp concepts and translates them to layman's terms. It's sound advice for business professionals on all levels, from the manager running a department to the small business owner to the executive running a Fortune 500 company. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and recommend it to all managers, whether they're looking to improve themselves, their team or their company, or looking to take the next step in their career. -James Moreno San Fernando (Los Angeles), CA

Customer Reviews
I shared it someone and they love it as well. I really enjoyed this and shared it with a client. She loved it as well.I may go a live seminar based on this. Thanks
Good Message, But Go Ahead And Shoot The Messenger Once you get past Joe Vitale's shameless self-promotions, the message of Dr. Len is that we are responsible for our lives and everything and everyone that crosses our path. That is pretty much a universal Spiritual law. Other than learning the "I love you, I'm sorry, forgive me, thank you" mantra, I don't have a lot to show for this book. I could have learned this off the Ho'oponopono website. It looks like a Joe Vitale teaser to get you to take a seminar to learn more. I've had some friends take the Ho'oponopono seminar, and they loved it. But unfortunately, the review is for the book which I wouldn't recommend. Take the seminar; skip the book.
Zero Limits This book really makes each one of us responsible for our lives!!! It is really very informative and gives you tools to work with.

Customer Reviews
Guerilla Marketing Very helpful information for small businesses working out ways to best market their products and services
I hope our competitors don't read this! An easy and friendly read, packed full of information... Many ideas you may already know, but have never taken full advantage of. At least a dozen strategies you can start using right now, and a few more that you will really need to plan carefully to use effectively. Levinson explains the importance of focussed and consistent advertising, referrals, testimonials and so much more. You'll learn about how and why you need to get it right BEFORE you advertise, then a multitude of simple ways to get your message out there. I've been in the design and advertising business for 30 years. I have always had some cool ideas for the graphic design... now I'm getting the MESSAGE right, too! This book has given me new insight into how we can get the best return on a small budget. I'm using these ideas at my full-time job for a commercial printer, as well as with a new business my wife and I started in October, 2007. So far, even in this dismal economy, we're seeing 10 to 20% growth each month. Thank you Jay. Almost every page of this book is covered in yellow highlighter!
Make your business a 900 lb guerilla to be a 900 lb gorrilla This book is outstanding. I have yet to finish reading the whole thing, but will soon. After each chapter it fills you with such inspiration for your business you will have to put it down and start acting on the secrets you KNOW your competition is overlooking. As a small tackle shop that carries fishing flies and supplies, not many - if ANY - of my competitors are doing any of the secrets locked within these pages, so it has really opened up a whole world of possibilities for what I do. This book will do more for ANY business, or business who wants its employees to further the image, word, branding, marketing and every aspect of the business. Before I bought this book I always thought to grow, you needed to spend big bucks on marketing and advertising.... what was I thinking? Written to be inspiring, it WILL call you to action with real world applications they won't teach you in business school, because some of the most effective things have little or no cost! GET THIS BOOK if you want your business to flourish or if you have a business, or just a hobby you would like to see some return from. If you just want it to sink into the ground... well then, I guess you won't need it. We were wasting so much money before, just missing the point or not understanding how people work, and marketing vs advertising. The author is a real world pro at big and small business, where has this book been all my life? Practicing what he preaches this author has made some struggling companies turn into daily household words... and even cultural icons - Like The Marlboro man, Proctor and Gamble, and a multitude of others. Learn from those who can show you some of their successes, don't waste time on authors with nothing under their belts to show for their theories. BUY THIS BOOK FIRST.

The Tipping Point: How Little Things Can Make a Big Difference

Product Description
"The best way to understand the dramatic transformation of unknown books into bestsellers, or the rise of teenage smoking, or the phenomena of word of mouth or any number of the other mysterious changes that mark everyday life," writes Malcolm Gladwell, "is to think of them as epidemics. Ideas and products and messages and behaviors spread just like viruses do." Although anyone familiar with the theory of memetics will recognize this concept, Gladwell's The Tipping Point has quite a few interesting twists on the subject. For example, Paul Revere was able to galvanize the forces of resistance so effectively in part because he was what Gladwell calls a "Connector": he knew just about everybody, particularly the revolutionary leaders in each of the towns that he rode through. But Revere "wasn't just the man with the biggest Rolodex in colonial Boston," he was also a "Maven" who gathered extensive information about the British. He knew what was going on and he knew exactly whom to tell. The phenomenon continues to this day--think of how often you've received information in an e-mail message that had been forwarded at least half a dozen times before reaching you.Gladwell develops these and other concepts (such as the "stickiness" of ideas or the effect of population size on information dispersal) through simple, clear explanations and entertainingly illustrative anecdotes, such as comparing the pedagogical methods of Sesame Street and Blue's Clues, or explaining why it would be even easier to play Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon with the actor Rod Steiger. Although some readers may find the transitional passages between chapters hold their hands a little too tightly, and Gladwell's closing invocation of the possibilities of social engineering sketchy, even chilling, The Tipping Point is one of the most effective books on science for a general audience in ages. It seems inevitable that "tipping point," like "future shock" or "chaos theory," will soon become one of those ideas that everybody knows--or at least knows by name. --Ron Hogan

"Blink" is better..... Meh, it is an okay book. I've read much better. A lot of useless information. I feel that the core information of this book could be presented in about half of the length that it is at. I read "Blink" first and I thought it was descent so I decided to read this one hoping in would be awesome...... oh well. "Darwin's Black Box" Greatest book ever!!!!!
Loved it! I wish there were more books out there as interesting and thought-provoking as this one. I really don't have much more to say beyond "this book is just plain great, and you should definitely get your hands on it."
How else can we use the Tipping Point to Improve the World? Malcolm Gladwell explains in his book The Tipping Point that it is possible for ideas, messages and behaviors to spread rapidly. Gladwell argues convincingly that to change an entire population it is not necessary to change everyone, only a small percentage of people. The book's concept is powerful and explained very well by Gladwell. Only one slight critique. The book could have been much shorter. It provides more examples than necessary to get the point across. Having said that does not take away from the important (and useful) ideas that the book explains! The point at which the ideas, messages or behaviors of a population changes rapidly is known as the tipping point. Similar to an epidemic, contagious behavior is caused by a small percentage of people. Changing others by using contagious behavior has significant implications. Much can be accomplished by focusing efforts. Instead of trying to change an entire population, only a small percentage of people need to be convinced to change. In one story about a tipping point, Malcolm Gladwell discusses how behavior of criminals in New York City was changed. This was done by understanding human behavior and implementing tactics to improve it. In the 1980s and early 1990's the poor neighborhoods of Brownsville and East New York and their streets had every conceivable violent and dangerous crime. Crime was spreading like a virus. To combat it New York needed a stronger vaccine--in essence, an anti-crime preventative. A common solution for lowering crime is adding more police and jails. However, this only treats the symptoms of the problem. It does nothing to address the cause of crime nor does it lower it. To solve its crime situation, New York City implemented what is now known as the Broken Windows theory. It was the brainchild of James Q. Wilson and George Kelling who used their Critical Thinking skills to solve a major problem. Their Broken Windows theory states that if a window is broken and left un-repaired then people walking by will assume no one cares and no one is in charge. Graffiti, public disorder and aggressive panhandling are the equivalents of broken windows. They were evidence of the virus that was inviting more serious crimes in New York City. In other words, when a place is messy, people add to the messiness. That was the root cause of the crime in New York City. The solution that the Broken Windows theory provided was to clean up the city. Then, people would have an inclination to keep it clean. That in turn would reduce the serious crime. The discovery of this simple solution has some startling implications. The Broken Windows theory solution was put into effect in all of New York City when Rudolph Giuliani became mayor. He appointed William Bratton as chief of police. Both Giuliani and Bratton believed that by controlling the minor and seemingly insignificant quality-of-life crimes they could create a Tipping Point for dropping the crime rate. Giuliani and Bratton executed a policy to fix all broken windows, stop panhandlers, and paint over graffiti. They literally had the streets cleaned up. For example, Bratton's police officers arrested people for not paying their train fairs. Although a small crime, these actions sent a signal to the criminal community that crime (any crime) wouldn't be tolerated by the authorities. The offenders were taken to police stations and checked for other outstanding offenses. Seven out of ten had outstanding offenses against them. In another example, when gang members painted their graffiti overnight on trains, the authorities had the trains re-painted by the next morning. The gang members saw their hard work created overnight eliminated. This helped break their will to paint graffiti. The broken windows theory worked. Crime dropped precipitously. People started caring; they felt someone was in charge. They began taking better care of their city. Overall, a great book with powerful concepts.
